Reflection #4 – What Chris Wants

Who am I? What am I? All these thoughts racing through Chris head and all he could conclude to was that he was a failure. He gets out of bed, slips his feet into his raggedy slippers and walks over to the mirror. When he looks at the mirror, he sees a man, desperate for acceptance from the world as well as his family. He takes his pale hands and slowly and ever so gently massages his wrinkled face. Now Chris isn’t old, he is in his early 20s, but his depression has made him age older than what he was supposed to. He “sighs,” and gets ready for work, knowing that nothing will change. His family hates him and he hates his job, all Chris can do is pray that an opportunity will fall right out of the sky and long behold it did.

While walking to the butcher factory for meat, where Chris works at, he steps on something that didn’t feel like cement. He looks down to find a black book, which was slim and had a hard cover protecting it. To Chris amazement he looked around suspiciously before picking it up and while doing so he couldn’t believe someone could drop a book as such so carelessly. Chris could just tell by the fabric alone that this book was worth a fortune. He peeked at one page to realize that it was blank, he then flipped to another and before Chris knew it, he realized that the book was completely blank. “How strange,” Chris thought to himself and then he saw it. The front cover of the book said deathnote. “Deathnote, what on God’s name is a Deathnote book?” Chris said. “Could this book really kill people?” Chris then decides to test it out to see if this book powers really exists. Chris went to work and his boss waiting for him at his desk. “Why are you late???” Chris boss yells, but Chris pays him no mind. Chris boss yells again and again Chris ignores him. Finally Chris snaps and takes out a pen, with the pen he writes heart attack. Within seconds Chris boss panicked, heaved, and died. Chris couldn’t believe it, the book actually worked. Chris grinned with delight. “Yes!!!” He said, “This is what I’ve been waiting for, this is what I wanted all along!!!” Chris then takes his new found power and walks out, excited to show the world and his family the new him, the improved him. He craves vengeance and with this book he could do just that and more.
