Reflection #4

In the essay "Embarking Together On Solitary Journeys," by Hilma Wolitzer made me realize that even the best writers need improvement. That yes its true, not everyone has the natural gift of writing like some people do, but that doesnt mean that you should give up on writing if thats what your really wanna do. Wolitzer kinda reminds me of myself. For the fact that I dont htink she ever really thought that she would be a writer, especially a good one at that. She started off as a housewife and her first story was good enough to be accepted at the New York Times that they aid her by sending her to a writers group to improve on her writing. Just like any beginner writer, criticism isnt the easy thing to take, especially when you work really hard on your work. Yet in time, like Wolitzer did, like I did and so many other writers out there, you will learn that there is a difference between good criticism and degradtive criticism. You will learn who to go to  for advice and who not to go to, in additon, you will learn whether to accept that person advice or not. The main thing I learn from Wolitzer is that not all the time you can please the reader and thats ok, whats important is that you enjoyed writing your story and next time try to make a better one as you learn from your mistakes.
